Runoff produced for every grid cell is then routed through the river network using a kinematic wave approach. It is accepted that this condition may not be treated by Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeons throughout Europe. Supervised by the experienced EFAS faculty, participants of the courses will practice their techniques on cadavers. It is EFAS’s responsibility to share our knowledge in regions where foot and ankle surgery is still emerging.

This type of membership is available for those individuals from outside of Europe with strong interest and commitment to the field of foot and ankle surgery. Individual Global Members enjoy all membership benefits, but are not eligible to vote at the General Assembly or be elected to Council. The EFAS hydrological data collection centre (EFASHYDRO) collects historic and real-time river discharge and water level data across Europe from 44 data partners. Metadata such as name, location and upstream drained area are also collected and maintained. Data from more than 1,800 active stations are collected on a 24/7 basis either as water levels and/or discharge at different temporal resolution, then quality checked and resampled at 1-, 6- and 24‑hour time steps. Water level data are transformed to discharge data (the information which is required by LISFLOOD) when rating curves are provided by EFAS partners.

Stations where a minimum of four years of good-quality discharge data were available were selected as calibration points. By upgrading the full EFAS medium-range modelling chain to a 6‑hourly timestep, all forcing fields, including observed meteorological data to simulate initial conditions, needed to also be produced at the finer time step. For the LISFLOOD model, this includes gridded maps of precipitation, average air temperature, evaporation rate from free water surface and bare soil surface, and potential evapotranspiration for reference crop surfaces.
– EFAS har levert til forventingene våre siden vi startet å handle i 2006, tror vi fikk faktura nr 5.
If the EFA hedge is a boundary / ‘march’ hedge between two applicants, then it will be claimed as EFAH50, (in this example the right hand pink line). For both EFAH100 and EFAH50 you would still draw the EFA hedge as a line on the map as shown in the example. The following is an example of an EFA map showing two EFA Hedges (the pink dotted line).

All documents relevant to the online hearing must be filed using the eDocs Portal no later than three working days before the hearing. Online hearings are enabled by the video conferencing technology supported by Cisco Webex (Webex). Webex supports video calls by web browser or application on a laptop, tablet or phone. It is important that you familiarise yourself with the Webex platform and its functionality. The soil layers information is in the variable soil depth, which gives the depth of the bottom of each layer from the surface.
- If you are a foot and ankle surgeon residing and working in a European country where there is an EFAS-affiliated National Society, you can automatically become an EFAS member by joining this national society.
- In this example the hedge is being claimed for EFA, noting any hedge up to three metres wide is eligible as an EFA hedge.
- If your application meets the membership criteria, the Council will suggest it for full ratification by the General Assembly during annual meeting.
- The simulated discharge was then compared against observed discharge from the 1,137 calibration stations, excluding the year 1990 so that the impact of the initial conditions did not affect the comparison.
- In older adults, it may lead to social isolation, depression and cognitive decline.
- Join a strong network of more than 6000 leading European and International Foot and Ankle surgeons.
- Low fat diets, useful for arteriosclerosis, can kill you over the long term.
- Your application will then reviewed by the EFAS Council during the face-to-face meeting (usually taking place 3 times a year around January, June and at the time of the Annual Meeting).
- From now on, there will be an annual congress, allowing for poster submissions and extended sessions with free papers.

As the Permanent Grass (PGRS) is within five metres of arable land, we would claim this EFA supporting land cover as Permanent Cover (PC) and we would not include the road in the EFAM area. Example 5 – claimed EFAM within 5 metres of arable land, note the watercourse is an ineligible landscape feature and must be deducted from the EFA margin. EFA margins and EFA hedges must be on, adjacent to, or within five metres of arable land or contiguous to a claimed EFA option. The field of audiology is not just about diagnosing and treating hearing loss—it is a multidisciplinary field about restoring see more human connection, enabling communication and promoting inclusion in a society. The situation is particularly critical in many low- and middle-income countries, where access to hearing care is limited, and there is a severe shortage of trained audiology professionals.
A list of Centres throughout Europe has been collected but consideration may be given to other International Fellowships. The minimum time period is three months but this may include training for shorter periods in several centres. LogbookA complete logbook of surgical cases shall be required preferably electronically for ratification by the examination board before proceeding to the examination. Every year, hundreds of young talents from all around the world come to the annual event in the village of Alpbach. Students, young professionals and changemakers attend scientific, competence based and artistic seminars, participate in a high-level conference programme and join social and cultural activities.
The EFAS Research Foundation provides not only means for education of the EFAS members but also of all orthopaedic surgeons, residents, scientists, and all professions dealing with Foot & Ankle. A complete logbook of surgical cases shall be required preferably electronically for ratification by the examination board before proceeding to the examination. Evidence of appropriate Fellowship training in a Foot and Ankle Surgery Centre of Excellence is desirable but not mandatory at present. The Certification Board recognises that this is very variable depending on the country of origin of candidates and would not wish to disadvantage some EFAS members. However, in the future as the Certificate develops this will become a likely significant component of the proposed Advanced Specialist Certificate.
Promote the Development of Foot and Ankle Surgery
Individual Global Members enjoy all membership benefits, but are not eligible to vote at the General Assembly or be elected to Council. If you are an orthopaedic surgeon in training, or health practionare or scientist dedicated to advancement of foot and ankle knowledge you may select this membership type for application. This course covers the main topics and basic surgical techniques in foot and ankle such as Hallux Valgus surgery, Hallux rigidus surgery, Ankle instability, Metatarsalgia, Hindfoot arthrodesis. Each topic starts with a short theorical presentation, followed by a demonstration from the faculty and ends with 40 minutes of practical work on foot foot by participants. Foot and Ankle Surgery, the official journal of EFAS, is an essential reading for everyone interested in the foot and ankle and its disorders. The approach is broad and includes all aspects of the subject from basic science to clinical management.
The location and prospective congress president of the upcoming congresses is voted on by the General Assembly. In even years, the EFAS General Assembly is usually connected to a smaller, more focused meeting (usually hosted by the EFAS president). We have come a long way from where we started and today, EFAS represents 28 national societies and around surgeons in Europe. Once your registration documents are submitted, you will receive a confirmation email. Your application will then reviewed by the EFAS Council during the face-to-face meeting (usually taking place 3 times a year around January, June and at the time of the Annual Meeting).

Therefore, validation in particular has been a very elaboratestatistical process involving more than 6,000 questionnaires of different languages. In 2018, development and validation of the EFAS Score was completed in 7 languages (Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Swedish, Polish). The Finnish and Turkish score versions followed 2020, the Persian version 2021, the Portuguese version 2022, the Spanish and Estonian versions 2023, the Danish version in 2024 and the Mandarin and Cantonese version 2025. In this example the hedge is eligible to be claimed as an EFA hedge as it is within five metres of arable land and although the hedge is outside the field it is under the control/responsibility of the farmer and is adjacent to the BPS claimed field.
In children, hearing loss can delay speech and language development, hinder academic performance and limit social interactions. In older adults, it may lead to social isolation, depression and cognitive decline. Through its Commissions, EFFAS contributes to supporting the development of financial servicesregulation by incorporating the practical knowledge of the professionals. EFFAS shares with the market the expert opinions and conclusions of the debate among qualified professionals within the members of the Federation and the results of surveys of common interest. The impact of this was that the discharge data was shifted in time by 6 hours.
By analyzing these external factors, organizations can better understand the opportunities and threats that may impact their strategic decisions. This can help companies anticipate changes in the market and proactively respond to emerging trends. As there was no adequate validated foot and ankle score in different European languages, EFAS created a committee (Score Committee), inaugurated and headed by Martinus Richter, to develop, validate and publish a new score in common European mother tongues.

Certification’s application
The purpose of this curriculum is to provide a basis for the certification of young trainee trauma and orthopaedic surgeons specialising in foot and ankle management and surgery. CTEV from adult conditions but, again, there is a continuum in to adult life and a basic understanding is invaluable to the adult foot and ankle surgeon treating their subsequent effects. In addition, this shall promote educational and scientific research in basic science, paediatric, adult and traumatic foot and ankle surgery. By reinvestment the training of young surgeons interested in pursuing a career in trauma and orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery shall be facilitated. It covers Basic Science applied to the Ankle and Foot, Paediatric, Adult Orthopaedic and Traumatic Foot and Ankle Surgery. EFAS and GloFAS provide pan-European and global overview maps of flood probabilities up to 15 days in advance (30 days for GloFAS), seasonal streamflow outlooks up to several months ahead, flood impact assessment, as well as flash-flood risk (EFAS only).
It provides complementary, added-value information (e.g. probabilistic, medium range flood forecasts, flash flood indicators or impact forecasts) to the relevant national and regional authorities. Furthermore, EFAS keeps the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) informed about ongoing and possibly upcoming flood events across Europe. This type of membership is for individual European orthopaedic and trauma surgeons with strong interest in foot and ankle surgery residing in a country where there is no EFAS-affiliated National Society. The applying individual must demonstrate commitment to foot and ankle surgery through their membership application.
The sub-region extraction tool has therefore been removed from the EFAS CDS entries for versions up to v4, and any area specified in cdsapi requests will return the entire domain . A technical issue linked with the processing of SYNOP data at ECMWF has impacted the quality of the SYNOP layer shown on EFAS. This does not have any impact on the EFAS service which does not use the data stream used in the SYNOP layer. Some technical issues are impacting the SOS data server with no EFAS5 forecasts available. EFAS data downloaded from the CDS in NetCDF format are incorrect between Tuesday, March 19th and Thursday, March 21st, 2024 only.

For EFAS version 4.0, a total drainage area of 4M km2 was calibrated so that the hydrological representation of those catchments can be as accurate as possible (Figure 1). This resulted in a marked improvement in the hydrological simulations for most catchments, except in strongly regulated catchments, where the new calibration did not bring much change. On 14 October 2020, the European Flood Awareness System (EFAS) launched a new cycle upgrade, EFAS version 4.0. For the first time, the LISFLOOD hydrological model, the ‘engine’ of EFAS, was calibrated using sub-daily steps and it is now used with sub-daily steps in all hydrological simulations throughout the system.
Such a working group shall have an appointed convener and a well defined mandate, and shall report results to the General Assembly. ELECTIONS, NOMINATIONSA search committee of three people, appointed by the General Assembly, shall call for nominations to the offices of Vice Chairperson, Secretary-General and Treasurer of the Board, and two auditors, and draw up a list of nominees. The list of nominees shall be presented to the Voting and Non-Voting Representatives of all members at least one month prior to the General Assembly for election every odd year. In addition to the names prepared by the search committee, the final ballot can include names which have been agreed upon by the representatives of at least three member national societies. Proposals received at the EFAS Secretary-General will be mailed to all representatives. Email voting by non-attending Voting Representatives or written transfer of voting rights to a Non-Voting Representative is allowed.
- The obligee is generally not required to seek repayment first from the obligor’s assets before going after guarantor’s assets.
- When votes are tied, the Board members will make the final decision during the General Assembly.
- EFACS E/8 reduces the time spent on small tasks, such as sending confirmation of orders, by linking up processes and automating them.
- The European Flood Awareness Systems (EFAS) is the first operational pan-European flood forecasting and monitoring system.
- Like other operational forecasting systems, EFAS is always evolving, but the October 2020 upgrade included a step-change in EFAS hydrological modelling for medium-range forecasts.
Major upgrade of the European Flood Awareness System
The calibration process resulted in 14 new parameter maps over the pan-European EFAS extent, one per calibrated parameter. For each sub-catchment domain, the parameters identified by the calibration procedure were used in all grid cells, while for areas not covered by the calibration stations, default parameters were used instead. Parameter maps were then used to execute a continuous simulation forced with observations for the period Jan 1990 – Dec 2017. The simulated discharge was then compared against observed discharge from the 1,137 calibration stations, excluding the year 1990 so that the impact of the initial conditions did not affect the comparison.
Problems of both children and adults are included, as is trauma and chronic disease. This highly informative educational event will be an academic feast for the young foot and ankle surgeons across UK and Europe. LISFLOOD calibration stations were selected from the list of 2,927 river gauging stations with discharge data that was available in the EFAS-HYDRO database in July 2018, when calibration work began. Stations were located on the LISFLOOD 5 km drainage network using a semi-automatic procedure and additional manual checks. Available discharge data were then quality checked to exclude stations where discharge data showed issues with instrumentation, rating curves or water release from reservoirs. The aim of EFAS is to support preparatory measures before major flood events strike, particularly in the large trans-national river basins and throughout Europe in general.
Our natural oil barrier is essential for glowing, smooth, hydrated skin that is less reactive to stressors. The Contract Control module of EFACS E/8 is designed for companies who typically offer a design-to-order service; it provides a powerful system for defining a contract structure. A cost ledger is automatically maintained which details estimated, planned, actual and forecast costs. Having been continuously developed since the initial line of code was written in 1985, EFACS E/8 is ERP software that has been designed to run all operations in a modern manufacturing business. With the recent addition of AI-enabled features, EFACS E/8 is well placed to support our customers into the future. EFACS E/8 reduces the time spent on small tasks, such as sending confirmation of orders, by linking up processes and automating them.
This does not seem realistic, as I have never seen a hydrological model or a land surface model working with these high depths of soil, unless the focus is on the deep layers. The European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS) underscores that surgical procedures on the foot and ankle should only be performed by medically trained surgeons who are fully accountable for their treatment decisions and outcomes. The purpose of the Education Committee is to provide high quality training to foot and ankle surgeons from across Europe and beyond. Logbook A complete logbook of surgical cases shall be required preferably electronically for ratification by the examination board before proceeding to the examination.
We hold 2 online work meetings and 1 face-to-face meeting every year, where we work on the drafts to build EFAS meetings with the highest standards in orthopaedic education and training. The Examination Board shall include the Certification Committee and all members of EFAS Council when each examination is taking place and shall include co-opted examiners as required. For the candidates who pass the Board shall be responsible for the recommendation to the Union of European Medical Societies (UEMS) for endorsement prior to the award of the Certificate.
Events EFAS Calendar 2025
The emphasis is on clinical examination cases, discussion groups and typical day-to-day clinic scenarios. Although not an exam preparation course, content is taught to the standard expected in the FRCS(Tr & Orth) exam; that of a day-one non-specialist orthopaedic consultant. Supported by the EFAS Education and Scientific Committee, the EFAS Research Foundation provides support for all conferences, courses, fellowships, and skill labs of EFAS. The error in the computation of the initial conditions of EFAS version 5 forecasts has been corrected.
For EFAS 4, LISFLOOD was upgraded to run sub-daily time steps (6-hourly), routing of flood waves in rivers was improved and the handling of model state files was refined. The upgrades allowed for better representation of hydrology in small to medium size catchments (Figure 3) and for the use of more realistic parameters in the calibration process. Our barrier can become impaired due to many intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Ie; harsh ingredient use over time, synthetics in skincare, poor water quality, pollution in the air and poor nutrition to name a few. When the skin’s membrane is impaired it no longer functions correctly leading to acceleration of the aging process and chronic skin conditions.
